The idea to make a calendar for charity really began with a bunch of drunk medical students. We were sitting out on my porch bantering with beverages in hand, when it was suddenly decided that there were a plethora of men in our class with abs. Since there were enough of us for a quorum, a plan was set in motion to capitalize on the physiques of our fellow classmates. The progenitor of said idea will forever remain a mystery (seeing as how most of us do not actually remember the conversation); however, a seed was planted, and during the past year, that seed has grown into a tree. Today I am happy to announce that that tree bears fruit, and the fruit comes in the form of the "2011 Men of Medical School Calendar." Twelve men, twelve dollars. You can own one of these fine time-tracking devices and fill your 2011 with the sultriest, sexiest men in the undergraduate medical community.
First, I urge you to check out our Facebook pages:

Go, like it, then buy it.
Our mission is to raise as much money as possible for our Student Health Action Clinic (SHAC), a local student-run free health clinic in Carrboro, North Carolina. SHAC is the oldest student-run free health clinic in the country, and creates tangible change in our community by providing free health (and dental) care for the local underserved. SHAC helps to bring quality care to individuals and families who do not have health insurance, or the financial means to otherwise see a physician.
For more info about SHAC, check out:

Each calendar costs $12, and $5 from every purchase will be donated to SHAC. BUT, if we can sell over 500 calendars, then manufacturing discounts will allow us to donate over $7.50 per calendar. That's a total of $3,250! So the more we sell the more we can give! We will not accept failure, so purchase today.
I've gotten into the idea of doing something creative once a year. Last year Ronnie Milam and I worked on "5 Star Nerve (The Brachial Plexus Song)," and six months later we have over 12,000 hits. More importantly, we've educated students worldwide about the most difficult and "hardest thing in all of medicine." And now our commercial for the 2011 Med School Men Calendar video has received about 1,200 hits in 24 hours (as my Mother just told me, "sex sells, Robby"). My phone has been texted off the hook, and I can only imagine how many BBMs Ronnie has received in the past day (he must have charged his phone at least twice yesterday). But because of that, I haven't been able to get an ounce of work done it seems. The problem is I can smell the turkey, and it's going to make the next week and a half of class absolutely brutal.
In the meantime, however, it's time to raise money for a great cause. So, if you're one of the few people besides my mother who actually reads this, sign up and buy a calendar! And if you really like, say, Mr. June, then never turn the page and it can be the summertime every day in 2011 ;)
